The best way to enrich your cycling culture is to read specialist magazines, newsletters and listen to podcasts, a very fashionable medium at the moment (but not while riding, I agree).
Below is a selection of my main sources of inspiration for urban cycling. Many are already partners of my anti-pollution mask brand Frogmask.
VELOOK:
Find help and tips on buying, selling and maintaining used bikes.
THE BICYCLE CENTER :
Grow your cycling culture and keep up to date with the essential cycling news: 100% bicycle mobility & 0% sport cycling.
WEELZ :
The WeelzLetter is a weekly summary of the latest cycling lifestyle news (mobility – urban cycling, bicycle touring, travel, gravel, bikepacking, leisure, sport, etc.), with a selection of the week's articles.
FUB :
The monthly newsletter of the French Federation of Bicycle Users
URBAN BICYCLE :
The No. 1 web magazine for urban, electric and cargo bikes
PODCASTS:
FREEWHEELING :
En roue libre is the podcast and YouTube channel launched by Antoine Taillefer that interviews economic players in the bicycle industry. It is more professionally oriented than the general public but very interesting to learn more about the bicycle economy in all its forms.
VELOTAF:
Cycling is not just a way of getting around. It is a way of seeing the world, of fighting battles, of addressing issues such as inequality, discrimination, ecology, the relationship to time and space. These are all questions that Victor addresses with his guests in the Vélotaf podcast.
CYCLOCAST :
The Lyon podcast of everyday cycling : stories and encounters in the world of cycling. Rides in the region.
BIKE BREAK:
Hosted by Erik and Arnaud, often with a few guests. It claims to be the podcast on the utility bike (the vélut'). We often talk about getting around by bike and using the bike on a daily basis. Lots of topics are related to the bike. A short half-hour break to listen to them, perfect between noon and two.
BILOOK THE CYCLIST:
"Hello, how are you?" The ineffable Bilook the cyclist seeks out cyclists all over France to get them talking about their daily lives on bikes, and to get away from a Parisian-centric vision.
DYNAMO by Véra Cycling:
Céline Oberlé, aka Vera Cycling but also Josette, doesn't just make gapettes in life. She has also just started podcasting, with Dynamo. Already a few episodes of cycling podcast produced since the beginning of the year. We talk about urban riding, custom bikes, bike boxes or even waste recovered by bike. It's very easy to listen to, and you quickly gain cycling culture!
FREE RAYS: the radio show about cycling
Rayons Libres is a weekly radio show, each of which is available as a podcast. Every Sunday, Abel Guggenheim interviews a guest who is an expert in the world of cycling in the broad sense (members of associations, professionals, journalists, elected officials, etc.). It doesn't talk too much about the latest Decathlon bikes but more about cycling policies in the broad sense of the term. Already more than 50 shows to discover.
WORDS OF BOUNDARIES:
Podcast of the Les Bornées group, a sports community committed to diversity and feminization in sport, particularly cycling. For Les Bornées, cycling must be accessible to all. The Les Bornées cycling podcast therefore gives a voice to sportswomen who practice cycling, triathlon, etc. It is also a real gold mine for learning how to properly maintain your bike, change your wheels depending on the season, travel with your bike or eat in competition, for example with the excellent 100% natural sports nutrition brand Mulebar .
RADIO CYCLO: the 100% cycling podcast
This show is the most general of this entire selection. Well structured and rich in information (health, mountain biking, cycle tourism, events, etc.), the shows are also available on the application.
Feel free to send me any newsletters or podcasts that I may have forgotten?
