IS AN OUTDATED FFP MASK STILL EFFICIENT?
FFP masks are subject to natural ageing. Elastics can become brittle for example
This is why an expiry date of 12 months is generally recommended, after which their effectiveness cannot be guaranteed by the manufacturer.
Nevertheless, in the context of the Covid-19 crisis, the Ministry of Labour authorises the use of FFP2 masks with an expiry date of up to 24 months under certain conditions:
- The masks must have been stored under the conditions provided by the manufacturer
- The integrity of the packaging, the appearance of the masks (original colour), the strength of the elastics and the nose clip must have been checked
- A trial fit to the face should be performed
