"Behind every problem lies an opportunity"
After 5 years of distributing Vogmask, an American brand of anti-pollution masks, the brand announced in April 2020 that it was withdrawing from Europe to better serve the US market. The world collapsed, all my work in communicating the brand, creating a distribution network and my website wiped out in one email. And yes, they didn't even bother to call me! I had two options. Cry and moan or see this as a huge opportunity to take their place in Europe. I had often thought of creating my own brand but the comfort of the distributor (the ease of buying a finished product that you just have to resell), the lack of risk, the fear of launching myself, a lack of courage to start from scratch at 50 years old ... everything prevented me from doing it, especially me! It took me 9 months to find the raw materials, the French workshop capable of making the prototypes and then assembling small series, to do the tests, to create the website, to design the boxes, to find a printer .... in a complicated context between telecommuting, confinement and summer holidays. In the end, the Frogmask, made in the middle of Paris, cost me, give or take a few cents, the same price as a Vogmask made in South Korea, delivered to San Francisco by boat and then flown to France, not to mention the carbon footprint! What I remember from this story: From a problem or bad news, opportunities are born It's when you're up against a wall that you have ten times the energy to get over it Producing in France is not insurmountable You must always have confidence in yourself Frogmask has already sold 500 pieces in one month and several retailers are on the case, the adventure begins again!
